PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lars Thunstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denver Bull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Thunstrom might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Prodigy - Spitfire. Lars Thunstrom has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Denver Bull!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Bull. Thunstrom does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bull shoots in for a takedown but Thunstrom shows good takedown defense.
Bull shoots for a takedown but Thunstrom saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Denver Bull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thunstrom stuffs the takedown.
Lars Thunstrom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denver Bull.

Thunstrom moves into the clinch successfully.

Thunstrom jumps guard and drags Bull to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bull is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Thunstrom looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Thunstrom might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bull looking to sit in guard and control but Thunstrom gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Thunstrom wants to control from the top but Bull keeps moving.
Bull tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bull is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Thunstrom wants to pass the guard but Bull is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bull fails with a takedown attempt.
Bull throws a looping overhand right but Thunstrom ducks down to avoid it.
Bull changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thunstrom tries to avoid it but Bull manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thunstrom to the ground. Thunstrom escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bull looks gassed!
Thunstrom cracks Bull with a right hand to the side of the head.
Thunstrom scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Thunstrom connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bull momentarily.

Thunstrom closes the distance and pushes Bull back into the cage.
Nice body punch from Thunstrom - that landed with a thud.

Thunstrom ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Thunstrom no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Thunstrom had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bull defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bull wanted to stand there but Thunstrom had control of the position.

Thunstrom is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bull defends well.

Bull is posturing up here but Thunstrom has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Bull tries to roll out but it's too tight and Bull has to tap! Slick submission there by Thunstrom!
