Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jakes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Cerone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Christian Cerone was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian Cerone! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cerone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jakes's waist but Jakes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cerone off to one side. Cerone looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Cerone avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cerone postures up.
Cerone is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jakes keeping busy on the bottom but Cerone has passed one foot through into half guard.
Jakes is breathing heavily. Cerone trying to control the pace. Jakes really is a fat lump.
That's one minute gone in the round. I looks like Cerone might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Jakes is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cerone stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Cerone closes the distance and clinches.

Jakes trying to control the position from guard on top but Cerone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cerone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cerone pushes Jakes off and gets back to his feet.
Jakes with a lazy takedown attempt and Cerone counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cerone. Jakes is looking to break free of the clinch but Cerone has double underhooks. Jakes has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Cerone regains guard immediately. Jakes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Jakes working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cerone's head. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Jakes stays in close to Cerone's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jakes stands up from guard. Let's bang! Jakes tries to bum rush Cerone with a series of wild strikes but Cerone uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jakes misses with a double jab
and Cerone counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jakes's guard now. Cerone preventing the sweep. Cerone seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Jakes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jakes keeping full guard, as Cerone tries to pass. Jakes keeping moving, preventing Cerone from controlling successfully. Cerone is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Cerone has taken the fight to the clinch.

Cerone tightens his grip and picks Jakes up, before dumping him to the ground. Jakes manages to land in guard. Jakes keeping full guard, as Cerone tries to pass. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jakes manages to escape and get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Cerone misses with a few strikes there.

Jakes looks to clinch and Cerone counters with a two punch combo. Cerone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cerone scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Jakes is rocked! Cerone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jakes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cerone trying to control the pace. Oh Jakes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Jakes has a hand on Cerone's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Cerone takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Jakes is trying to reverse the position but instead Cerone has taken his back - oops! Cerone scores with strikes from the back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jakes fending off the submission attempt from Cerone.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cerone has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jakes has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Jakes remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cerone will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Cerone is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Cerone lands shots from the back. Jakes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cerone keeps control of the position easily here as Jakes tries to buck him off.

A low kick from Cerone lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jakes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jakes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Cerone tries to clinch there but Jakes circles away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Cerone looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cerone shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jakes pinned against the cage. Cerone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jakes as he avoids it easily. Cerone is looking to clinch. Cerone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jakes moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jakes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cerone. Jakes circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jakes moves out of range of the body kick from Cerone.

Cerone shoots for a double leg takedown but Jakes sprawls well. He's pushed Cerone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cerone closes the distance and clinches up with Jakes, looking for a takedown. Cerone pushes Jakes against the cage but Jakes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cerone shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jakes as he jumps to the side. Cerone just misses with a punch to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Jim Jakes showed his dominance in that final round. I think Cerone has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
