The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapik defending well as Mera loads up on a big left hand.
Mera tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mera takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Danny Mera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mera scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lapik is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mera has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mera trying to control the position but Lapik is working away.
Mera has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lapik!
Mera lands a big shot there that rocks Lapik but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Mera tries to control but Lapik wriggling away.
Mera throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
