Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tanner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul King looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Tanner!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Tanner moves out of range easily.

Tanner has closed the distance and engaged King in a clinch.

King breaks from the clinch.
Tanner wants to clinch up but King keeps it at a distance.
King is looking to land body kicks.
Tanner is looking to clinch but King is avoiding it.
Paul King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tanner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but King moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
King swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Tanner counters with a big head kick but King shrugs it off.
Tanner goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

and Tanner counters with a single leg into guard. King didn't expect that.

King is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tanner is just riding it out for now. King eventually gives up the hold.
King prevents Tanner from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King decides to return to a standing position.

Tanner scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

King makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Tanner clinches up against the cage.

King has Tanner pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. King pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tanner tumbling to the mat - King dives into Tanner's guard.
Tanner looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but King puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tanner is trying to maintain the position but King is very close to passing his half guard.
King wants to control but Tanner is keeping him busy.

King escapes and gets back to his feet.

King throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

King wants to control but Tanner postures up.

Tanner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tanner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tanner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst King is controlling him.

King misses with a takedown attempt - Tanner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Tanner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
No joy there for King, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oooh a lovely combination from King sends Tanner down but not out. King dives into side control looking to finish.

It looks like Jack Tanner has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

King is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tanner knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Tanner is still in real trouble! Can King finish him?
Tanner is looking to regain half guard here but King keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


King pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Tanner seems to have recovered his senses.
King swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Tanner counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
King has his takedown stuffed

and Tanner counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Tanner is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. King doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tanner.
Tanner is trying to control the action in half guard but King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Tanner throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Tanner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tanner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

King wants to control but Tanner is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Tanner thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing King to regain full guard.
King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tanner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tanner postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tanner has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by King.
King gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Tanner counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tanner swivels and escapes.

Tanner forces King back against the cage and clinches.
Tanner tries to pull guard but King holds him up against the cage and eventually Tanner drops back down to his feet.

King jumps guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tanner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Tanner has gone for a leg lock! King slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tanner's guard.
King advances to half guard.
Tanner flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
King is keen to just control but Tanner is a slippery customer.
King is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tanner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
King tries to pass to full mount but Tanner defends it.
King is thwarting Tanner's attempts to control the position.
Tanner slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Tanner wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tanner shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Tanner is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

and King counters with a left and a right that stings Tanner.
King fails to land with a series of punches.
King falls off balance throwing a combination
and Tanner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Paul King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
King darts in trying to clinch

and Tanner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in King's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tanner is looking for a takedown up against the cage. King gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
King unloads a knee to the mid-section. Tanner lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tanner counters by moving into the clinch.
Tanner is looking to control King's arms but King gets an underhook and turns him. Now Tanner has his back to the cage.
Tanner tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. King just stands there and leans against the cage.

Tanner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Tanner will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Tanner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
King lands with a nice combination. Tanner backs away looking to recover.
King clinches but Tanner breaks the clinch
and Tanner makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. King really felt that one!

Tanner wants to get back to his feet.

Tanner closes the distance and clinches up with King, looking for a takedown. Tanner pushes King against the cage but King circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Tanner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
King throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tanner.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
King misses with a wild combination.

Tanner postures up and lands a big shot to King's brow.
Jack Tanner has got the better of the ground game so far.

Tanner shoots in and bounces King off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

King had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tanner is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. King Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tanner's back instead.

Tanner is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King is looking to clinch.
