The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ray Silva feints and as Doyle raises his hands in defense, Ray Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ray Silva drops back looking for a leg! Doyle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Doyle manages to kick Ray Silva off! Ray Silva jumps back into Doyle's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Doyle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Doyle tries to close the distance and clinch but Ray Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Doyle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ray Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Doyle has managed to get both his arms back between Ray Silva's legs - danger averted.

Doyle decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Doyle is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ray Silva holds on and takes a little breather.

and Ray Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Doyle didn't expect that.

Ray Silva is pressing down on Doyle's thigh, looking to free his foot. Doyle is holding on for now.

Ray Silva is really struggling to control Doyle but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Ray Silva is just content to waste time from the top position. Doyle takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Doyle has left one of his arms exposed and Ray Silva doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Doyle screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
