Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Dunsmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunsmore comes to the cage accompanied by Rock Superstar. Black is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Elton John - Rocket Man. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Black!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunsmore closes the distance and clinches up with Black, looking for a takedown. Dunsmore pushes Black against the cage but Black circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dunsmore shoots in for a takedown but Black shows good takedown defense.
Black thows a body shot but no joy.
Black scores with a nice strike.
A big right from Black misses.
Dunsmore fails in his attempt to clinch.
Black throws a hook to the side of Dunsmore's head but Dunsmore sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dunsmore dives in and grabs Black's left leg, looking for a takedown. Black pushes down on Dunsmore's head and hops out.

Dunsmore shoots in for a double leg but Black sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fighters circle momentarily. Black darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Black lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dunsmore circles away quickly and effectively.
Black connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Black scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
A looping hook to the body misses from Black. Dunsmore does a little dance to reset his feet.
Black scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
A slow jab from Black misses its intended target.
Black tries to bum rush Dunsmore with a series of wild strikes but Dunsmore uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dunsmore takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Dunsmore creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Black's defenses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Black can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dunsmore tries to free his leg and advance position but Black is retaining full guard.

Mike Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dunsmore tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Black paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dunsmore is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Dunsmore will probably get the nod.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dunsmore cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Black takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dunsmore is thwarting Black's attempts to control the position.
Dunsmore seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Dunsmore is looking to take a break and control but Black is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dunsmore shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Black sprawls well. Black wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dunsmore gets slowly back to his feet.

Dunsmore tries to close the distance and clinch but Black swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Black sizes up Dunsmore with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Black stalks Dunsmore and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Dunsmore's face. Dunsmore staggers backwards, shaken.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Black's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Black duly obliges.
Black looks to land a combination but Dunsmore avoids it well.

Dunsmore fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Black avoids it really well and circles away.

Dunsmore shoots in looking for a takedown. Black tries to sprawl out of it but Dunsmore keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Black manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Black is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dunsmore.
Black uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Dunsmore has time to react.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
