Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darren Helm! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Antunes! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Antunes drives through with a takedown into guard. Antunes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Antunes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Helm is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Helm has escaped and now he's on top! Helm avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Helm preventing the sweep. Helm drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Helm jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Helm trying to control but Antunes is working from the bottom. Antunes keeping full guard, as Helm tries to pass.

Helm doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Helm manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Helm wants to pass the guard but Antunes is keeping the position. Antunes looking for a guillotine here but Helm defends easily.
Helm got a little sloppy there for a moment and Antunes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Helm has managed to get both his arms back between Antunes's legs - danger averted. Antunes looks gassed! Antunes keeping moving, preventing Helm from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Helm stopping the sweep attempt from Antunes. Helm postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Antunes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Helm, into his guard. Antunes trying to control the position from guard on top but Helm is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Helm trying to control the position.

Antunes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Helm dives on top into guard. Helm throwing strikes from guard but Antunes blocks nicely. Antunes working for a triangle but Helm defends it easily.
Helm trying to control the position from guard on top but Antunes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Helm trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Helm trying to control but Antunes is working from the bottom. Antunes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Helm can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Antunes is looking for a triangle but Helm pushes his legs off easily.
Helm thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Helm misses with a takedown attempt and Antunes counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Antunes wants to free his trapped foot but Helm is holding on for dear life with his legs. Antunes is working for a kimura here but Helm manages to reverse the position and he's now in Antunes's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antunes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Helm can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Antunes is looking for a triangle but Helm pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Antunes keeping full guard, as Helm tries to pass.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Helm closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Antunes is trying to improve his position. Helm postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Antunes tries to bench press Helm off him but Helm keeps the position. Antunes is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Helm is looking to take a break and control but Antunes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Antunes trying his best to control but Helm has mounted him. Helm can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Antunes is looking to escape. Antunes wants to hold on but Helm pushes him away. Helm sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Antunes is in all sorts of trouble here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Darren Helm will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Rogerio Antunes. Well Antunes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
