And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihiro Akiyama!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sudo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Akiyama pinned against the cage. Akiyama gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Akiyama tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Akiyama tried to score with a low kick but Sudo checks it.
Akiyama misses with a jab, cross combination.
Akiyama is looking to clinch.
Sudo swats away the attempt to clinch by Akiyama.
Akiyama tries to clinch but Sudo is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akiyama tries to close the distance and clinch but Sudo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sudo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Akiyama defends it nicely.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Akiyama can do anything to dispel that myth.
Akiyama pushes Sudo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sudo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Akiyama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sudo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
