Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between ANTHONY MILLER (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Cowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, ANTHONY MILLER!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Cowen!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by MILLER.
MILLER throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Cowen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. MILLER looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cowen works to advance to full mount. MILLER defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
MILLER knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cowen on the ground.

Cowen has hold of MILLER's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and MILLER manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
MILLER is looking to improve his position but Cowen isn't that keen on the idea.
Cowen throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Cowen wants to finish this one by submission but MILLER is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cowen.
MILLER is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
BOOM! Cowen connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cowen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but MILLER is surviving well by controlling Cowen's body position as best he can.
Cowen looking to control and managing it successfully.
MILLER is bucking up trying to escape but Cowen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

MILLER defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cowen.
Cowen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Cowen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cowen lands with some strikes.
MILLER wants to hold on but Cowen pushes him away.

Cowen looking for a guillotine from mount but MILLER is having none of it.

Cowen jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… MILLER is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by MILLER and Cowen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Cowen advances to full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
MILLER is looking to improve his position but Cowen isn't that keen on the idea.
Cowen throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Cowen is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Cowen extends the arm and MILLER is forced to tap!
