PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Salizar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Santi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salizar comes to the cage accompanied by Fortunate Son. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pablo Salizar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Santi!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salizar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santi steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Salizar. That one must have hurt.

Santi closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Salizar did well to prevent Santi getting side control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Salizar missing with punches from the bottom.

Salizar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Santi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Salizar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santi has managed to get both his arms back between Salizar's legs - danger averted.
Santi is in close to Salizar's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Salizar looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Santi won't allow Salizar to sweep him here.

Santi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Salizar's guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Santi in particular looking to stall.
Salizar wants to improve his position but Santi is controlling well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Salizar is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santi pulls his head out easily.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Santi lands a nice short elbow.
Santi moves into full mount! Salizar won't be happy about that!
Santi trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Santi lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Salizar hang on?
Salizar looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Santi misses with an elbow to the head.

Santi is hanging on to Salizar's back as he tries to escape.
Salizar breaks Santi's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Santi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Salizar manages to get himself to full guard.

Salizar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Santi content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Santi dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Salizar throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Santi.
Santi throws a sloppy head kick
and Salizar counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Santi misses with a takedown
and Salizar counters with an outside leg kick.
Pablo Salizar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Salizar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Salizar looks to score with a jab to the body but Santi is just out of range.
Salizar attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Salizar throws a jab when Santi was well out of range.

Salizar tried to score with a low kick but Santi checks it.
Salizar tries to clinch up.
Santi throws a leg kick
and Salizar counters with a thumping low kick.
Pablo Salizar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Santi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salizar tries to avoid it but Santi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salizar to the ground. Salizar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Salizar tries to clinch but Santi is having none of it.

Santi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Santi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Santi controlling the pace for now.

Santi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Salizar has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Santi trying to control but Salizar is having none of it.
Salizar tries to improve his position but instead Santi has taken his back!
Salizar is trying to break free.
Salizar is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Santi.
Salizar is really stuck here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

What can Salizar do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Salizar is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Salizar is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Santi controlling well, preventing Salizar from escaping the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Santi looking to hold on to the position here but Salizar rolls and ends up regaining guard.

Salizar is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Santi rolls with it to try and escape but Salizar cranks on the arm and Santi is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
