Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greig Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Duality. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Greig Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Renzo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gracie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Smith can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Smith regains half guard.
Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smith makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smith.
Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Smith's guard.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Smith is trying to keep Gracie in close.
Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith working away.
Gracie is trying to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Smith defends easily.
Smith has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gracie to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Smith is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gracie pulls down on the head and he's put Smith to sleep! This one is all over!
