The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximov leaves Mendoza with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Maximov throws a series of punches but Mendoza avoids them all with ease.
Maximov shoots in but no luck this time.
Mendoza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maximov as he avoids it easily.
Maximov tries to clinch up but Mendoza circles away and keeps his distance.
Maximov misses with a series of wild punches.
Maximov tries to clinch up.
Mendoza swats away the attempt to clinch by Maximov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maximov doesn't manage to clinch there - Mendoza circles away.
Maximov throws a body punch but Mendoza moves out of range.
Maximov tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendoza swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Maximov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mendoza counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Maximov!
Mendoza throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Maximov has his hands clasped together but Mendoza breaks the hold and Maximov is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Mendoza!
