Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chip Dawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Richardson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dawson comes to the cage accompanied by Some Bodies Gonna Get It. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Richardson throws a nice looking combination but Dawson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Richardson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Richardson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dawson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Richardson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Dawson dodges the punch combination from Richardson.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dawson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Richardson.

Richardson throws a series of punches but Dawson moves out of range.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dawson is defended easily by Richardson.

Dawson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Richardson's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Richardson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dawson is pushing down on Richardson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Richardson is fighting to maintain full guard but Dawson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Dawson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Richardson's head.
Dawson stops Richardson from getting back to his feet.
Dawson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dawson lands a nice short elbow.
Dawson prevents Richardson from standing back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No luck for Dawson with that takedown attempt.
Richardson throws a right hand that Dawson ducks under and follows up with a left that Dawson also avoids with ease.
Dawson tries for a takedown but Richardson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chip Dawson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Richardson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Dawson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Richardson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dawson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Richardson is sitting in close to Dawson's body. Dawson has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Richardson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Richardson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Dawson.
