Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Laidlaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessandro Vacchereccia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vacchereccia is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cancao do Mar . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyle Laidlaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alessandro Vacchereccia!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Laidlaw.

Vacchereccia forces Laidlaw back against the ropes and clinches.
Laidlaw really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vacchereccia has picked Laidlaw up - he's going for a ride! Vacchereccia dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Laidlaw punching from the bottom.
Vacchereccia passes to full mount!
Vacchereccia landing strikes from the mount and Laidlaw is in trouble!
Laidlaw is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Laidlaw is breathing heavily.
Vacchereccia dominating with strikes here.
Vacchereccia throwing strikes here but Laidlaw is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Vacchereccia punching from mount but Laidlaw doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Vacchereccia throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Laidlaw because Vacchereccia loaded up on that one.
Vacchereccia misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Poor strikes thrown by Vacchereccia there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Vacchereccia goes for an armbar but Laidlaw turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Laidlaw.
Vacchereccia is trying to keep Laidlaw in close.
Laidlaw's corner is telling him to maintain position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Laidlaw wants to pass the guard but Vacchereccia is keeping the position.
Vacchereccia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Vacchereccia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Laidlaw.
Vacchereccia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Laidlaw counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Laidlaw loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Vacchereccia has his foot on Laidlaw's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laidlaw works his way back into a safe position though.
Laidlaw wants to get up but he can't break Vacchereccia's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Vacchereccia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Laidlaw is aware though and is defending well.
Vacchereccia controls Laidlaw momentarily but Laidlaw frees himself.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Laidlaw tries to free his leg and advance position but Vacchereccia is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Laidlaw lands with a kick to the temple. Vacchereccia shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Laidlaw counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Laidlaw dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Laidlaw doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Vacchereccia counters with a shoot takedown. Laidlaw fights it but they end up in guard.
Vacchereccia cracks Laidlaw with a solid left hand.
Vacchereccia advances position into side control!
Laidlaw is trying to buck Vacchereccia off.

Laidlaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Laidlaw is trying to control the position but Vacchereccia postures up.

Vacchereccia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Laidlaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Laidlaw had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vacchereccia defends it easily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Laidlaw tries to clinch up

and Vacchereccia counters by clinching up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vacchereccia using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Laidlaw ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Laidlaw no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vacchereccia accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Laidlaw has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vacchereccia can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alessandro Vacchereccia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Vacchereccia pushes Laidlaw up against the ropes in a clinch.
Vacchereccia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Laidlaw gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Laidlaw is trying to trip Vacchereccia. He has hold of a leg but Vacchereccia is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Laidlaw persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Laidlaw wants to control from the top but Vacchereccia keeps moving.
Vacchereccia looking to control but Laidlaw passes into half guard.
Laidlaw not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Vacchereccia is trying to stand up here but Laidlaw is controlling him well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Laidlaw is pressing down on Vacchereccia's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vacchereccia is holding on for now.
Laidlaw is looking to take a break and control but Vacchereccia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Laidlaw is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vacchereccia knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Vacchereccia tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Laidlaw wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kyle Laidlaw showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Laidlaw has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
