Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Backman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman instigates a clinch.
Kelly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Backman lands with a nice combination. Kelly backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Jim Kelly has been cut.
Backman swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kelly.
Kelly closes the distance looking to clinch
and Backman counters with a straight right hand.
Kelly is rocked!
Kelly tries to clinch
and Backman counters by clinching up.
Backman misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kelly's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kelly, right into the meat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kelly takes the fight into the clinch.
Kelly is looking to control Backman's arms but Backman gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kelly has his back to the cage.
Backman lands a shot to the body.
Kelly is trying to break the clinch but Backman has him pressed against the cage.
Kelly is trying to break the clinch but Backman is controlling him.
Kelly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kelly clinches but Backman breaks the clinch
and Backman counters with a stiff right hand.
Backman has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kelly tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Backman smiles and moves away.
Backman misses the jab.
Kelly tries to clinch but Backman moves away
and Backman counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kelly is still on wobbly legs! Can Backman finish him?
Backman fails to land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Backman cracks Kelly with a hook to the temple - Kelly is on wobbly legs here! Backman swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Kelly falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Backman wins by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ben Backman!
