Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Devon Garcia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Leon Barroni! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barroni circles away quickly and effectively. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Barroni. The fight stays on the outside here - Garcia looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Garcia shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Garcia stops Barroni from getting back to his feet.
Barroni has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Garcia is working away from the top position though. Barroni tries to roll over but Garcia keeps him under control. Barroni actively working from the bottom here. Garcia slows the pace down in half guard. Garcia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barroni on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barroni tries to roll over but Garcia keeps him under control. Barroni tries to kick Garcia off but Garcia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barroni is trying to maintain the position but Garcia is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Barroni blocks the body kick.
Barroni misses with a takedown attempt so Garcia counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Garcia is breathing heavily. Barroni throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Barroni is looking for a triangle but Garcia pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garcia works a leg free and moves into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Barroni tries to get to full guard but Garcia has control of the leg. Barroni trying to control here.
Barroni moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garcia got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barroni has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Garcia has managed to get both his arms back between Barroni's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barroni has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Garcia should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Barroni has tightened it up now! Garcia should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
