Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Currie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Currie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Helmet - Just Another Victim. Slaughter comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Crown - World Below kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Currie! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Slaughter! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Currie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Currie throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Slaughter throws a right hand that Currie ducks under and follows up with a left that Currie also avoids with ease. Slaughter scores with a sloppy right hand. Currie should have avoided that one. Currie throws a big shot that misses. Currie scores with a jab to the jaw. Currie pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Currie misses with an uppercut. Slaughter saw that one coming. Slaughter throws a left and a right that both miss
and Currie counters with a straight punch to the midsection. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Slaughter crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Currie - the referee stops the clock and Slaughter gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Currie. Slaughter manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Currie throws a jab when Slaughter was well out of range. Slaughter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Slaughter gets a takedown into half guard. Slaughter not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Currie pushes Slaughter off looking to stand but Slaughter dives back in and keeps control.
Currie tries to roll over but Slaughter keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slaughter working Currie over with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Currie blocking the ground and pound attempt from Slaughter. Currie works his way to full guard. Good work. Slaughter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Currie keeping full guard, as Slaughter tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Slaughter trying to move into half guard but instead Currie has managed to sweep! Currie tries to stand but Slaughter is controlling from the bottom. Slaughter keeping moving, preventing Currie from controlling successfully. Currie is really struggling to control Slaughter but he's trying to hold on to the position. Slaughter is trying to keep Currie in close.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Currie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slaughter moves out of range of the strikes. Currie avoids the body shot from Slaughter.
David Currie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Currie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Slaughter shoots for a double leg takedown but Currie sprawls well. He's pushed Slaughter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Slaughter misses with a wild combination.

and Currie counters with a nice low kick that buckles Slaughter's knee momentarily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Slaughter closes the distance and lands a one-two. Currie circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Slaughter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Currie's guard. Slaughter tries to free his leg and advance position but Currie is retaining full guard. Slaughter trying to control but Currie is working from the bottom. Currie is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Slaughter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Slaughter ducks right into an uppercut from Currie. Slaughter closes the distance but Currie moves to the side and Currie counters with a left and a right that stings Slaughter. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Currie takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Slaughter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. That's three minutes gone in the round. Slaughter sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Slaughter wants to improve his position but Currie is controlling well.

Currie wants to pass to mount but Slaughter is defending the position. Slaughter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Slaughter wants to control but Currie is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Slaughter keeping control of the position. Slaughter tries to roll over but Currie keeps him under control. Currie is thwarting Slaughter's attempts to control the position. Slaughter is looking for a sweep. Currie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Currie is trying to control the action in half guard but Slaughter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Slaughter trying to control but Currie postures up.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that David Currie will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

And that's the end of the fight! David Currie showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Currie, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
