PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Kol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Martinez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Juicy. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kol swinging wildly here.
Kol pulls out of a head kick attempt.
David Kol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Martinez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kol's half guard.
Kol is looking for a sweep. Martinez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kol is defending against the submission attempts here by Martinez.
Kol is not content to let Martinez control the position.
Kol really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martinez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martinez has control of Kol's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kol regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Martinez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kol can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Martinez misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Martinez throws a series of punches but Kol moves out of range.
Kol doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Martinez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kol was covering up waiting for the punch and Martinez finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martinez trying to control the position from guard on top but Kol is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kol wants to sweep here but Martinez controlling him for the moment.

Martinez drops back looking for a leg! Kol is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kol manages to kick Martinez off! Martinez jumps back into Kol's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kol wants to control but Martinez passes easily into half guard.
Kol is looking for a sweep. Martinez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kol misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kol tries to bum rush Martinez with a series of wild strikes but Martinez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Martinez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Martinez lands in his opponent's guard.

Kol wants to sweep but no luck.
Martinez passes Kol's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Martinez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kol does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kol wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kol throws a head kick but Martinez moves out of range.
David Kol is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Martinez keeps the fight on the outside.
Martinez lands a jab to the head.
Kol moves in looking to clinch but Martinez pushes him off.

Kol misses with a combination
and Martinez counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kol misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Martinez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kol at a distance.
Kol misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Martinez scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Kol throws a right and a left that Martinez avoids nicely.

Martinez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kol looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Martinez is working to tighten is grip on Kol's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kol has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Martinez is really squeezing tight and eventually Kol passes out! Martinez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
