Bitnis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Gouda is controlling Bitnis's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Fritz Gouda dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fritz Gouda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bitnis shoots in looking for a takedown. Gouda tries to sprawl out of it but Bitnis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gouda manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bitnis throws a leg kick but Gouda checks it.

It looks like John Bitnis has been cut.

Gouda throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Gouda forces Bitnis back against the cage and clinches.
Gouda lands a good knee to the midsection. Bitnis won't want to take too many of those.
Gouda comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Gouda shoots in for a takedown but Bitnis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bitnis doesn't manage to clinch there - Gouda circles away.

and Bitnis counters with a shoot takedown. Gouda fights it but they end up in guard.

Bitnis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gouda swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gouda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gouda.
John Bitnis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fritz Gouda.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Bitnis will probably get the nod.

Gouda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bitnis's waist but Bitnis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gouda off to one side.

Bitnis goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gouda has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bitnis but great work by Gouda.
