Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gabbie Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Starks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Why Can't We Be Friends. Andy Starks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabbie Jay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Starks! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Starks scores with the left hand. Jay knows he should have avoided that one. Jay avoids the head kick by Starks.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Starks misses with a kick to the body.
Starks lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jay takes a step back to recover. Jay lands a nice hook to Starks's body. Starks takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Jay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Starks manages to avoid it. Jay throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Starks moves out of range of the strikes. Jay takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Starks connects with a jab. Jay thows a body shot but no joy. Starks instigates a clinch. Starks lands a right hand. Jay blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Starks lands a left hand.

Jay is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Starks lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jay backwards. Starks pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Starks is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Jay is trying to break the clinch but Starks is controlling him. Starks jumps guard but Jay stands there with Starks around his waist. Starks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Starks fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jay. Starks misses with a looping right. Starks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Jay looks like he's trying to stand up.
Starks trying to mount his opponent but Jay defends it. Jay is holding on to half guard well. Jay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Starks on the ground. Starks moves nicely into side control. Jay is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Jay dodges the ground and pound from Starks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Starks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jay keeps working. Starks throws an elbow but Jay slips to the side and avoids it well. Starks postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Starks looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Starks looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Jay is avoiding damage well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Starks throws a looping overhand right but Jay ducks down to avoid it. Starks throws a head kick that misses. Starks gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jay. Starks slips under a jab from Jay. Starks takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Starks shoots in for a takedown but Jay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jay dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Starks looks gassed! Horrible takedown by Starks or perhaps it was just good defense by Jay which made him look bad. Gabbie Jay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Starks.

Starks takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jay connects with a single shot there. Jay misses with a body shot.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jay uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Starks. Danga de danga de dang - Jay scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Andy Starks has been cut. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Starks. A looping hook to the body misses from Jay. Starks does a little dance to reset his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Starks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jay. Jay throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Starks on the side of the head. Jay lands a left and a right that send Starks crashing to the mat, dazed. Jay thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Starks is still on wobbly legs! Can Jay finish him? A head kick misses from Starks. Starks seems to have recovered his senses. Jay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Starks manages to avoid it. Jay lands a left and a right that send Starks crashing to the mat, dazed. Jay thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A head kick misses from Starks. Jay throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Starks stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jay swings for the body but Starks moves out of range.

That has opened up Andy Starks's cut even more. Jay throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Starks. A head kick misses from Starks. Starks walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Gabbie Jay is winning the standup battle so far. Starks takes one to the chin there. Jay scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Starks is breathing heavily. Jay connects with a crisp jab.

Starks doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Starks thowing shots but they're missing. Jay holds on to Starks around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Starks won't let Jay get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Starks looking to ground and pound but Jay is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jay tries to buck Starks off but he can't manage it. Jay takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Starks jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jay manages to avoid the submission attempt. Jay bucks up and tries to throw Starks off but instead Starks has got his back! Jay defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Jay wants to control his opponent's hands but Starks gets his hands free. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Starks is trying to stick to Jay's back but Jay is turning into Starks. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Starks's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jay. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gabbie Jay dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Andy Starks's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Starks pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Jay thuds a left hand into Starks's body. Starks lands a nice shot to the body.

Starks slips a straight right by Jay. The fighters circling - Jay throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Starks moves into range and clinches up with Jay. Jay is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Starks doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Starks gets through Jay's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Jay is trying to maintain a safe position but Starks gets an underhook and turns Jay into the cage. Starks keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jay's efforts to push away. Starks lands an elbow just above Jay 's eye. Starks with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Jay won't be happy with that. This has been an exciting period of action! Jay wants to get back to his feet. Jay gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Starks thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jay's head. Starks is looking to take a break and control but Jay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Starks throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jay is trying to control but can't.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Starks bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jab, jab by Starks - just one landing. Jay lands with a hook. Starks tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Starks throws a sloppy head kick and Jay moves out of range easily. Andy Starks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jay slips a straight right by Starks. Jay moves away from the strike by Starks. Gabbie Jay is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Starks. Starks throws a head kick but Jay moves out of range.
Jay rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Starks moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

And that's the end of the fight! Gabbie Jay showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jay, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
