Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khalil Malla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, bobby hay!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malla tries to clinch but hay is having none of it.
Malla throws a combination but it was largely blocked by hay.

hay gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

hay manages to pull guard.
Malla trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Malla is working hard here to advance position.
hay is wriggling around but Malla manages to pass to half guard.
hay is staying active underneath Malla, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
hay is looking to improve his position.
hay is trying to control but can't.

Malla is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
hay is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Malla jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but hay manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Malla really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
hay tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Malla wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Malla trying to control the position but hay is working away.

Malla in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
hay is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
hay is looking to control Malla's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can hay avoid being mounted?

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Malla misses with a takedown attempt - hay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

hay drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Malla is looking for a sweep.
Malla is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Malla is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on hay's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Malla is breathing heavily.
hay seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Malla does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Malla counters with a takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on hay's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Malla is looking to take a break and control but hay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
hay avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Malla.
Malla wants to control but hay is keeping him busy.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malla swings around for an armbar but hay sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Malla's guard.
Malla keeping moving, preventing hay from controlling successfully.
hay lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Malla wants to stand up but hay is controlling him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
hay trying to control the position from guard on top but Malla is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
hay seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Malla keeping moving, preventing hay from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

hay prevents Malla from getting back to his feet.

Malla working for a triangle but hay defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
hay is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Malla is pulling down on hay's head. It's preventing any offense from hay, at least for the moment.
Malla wants to stand up but hay is controlling him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
hay looking to sit in guard and control but Malla gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Khalil Malla dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Malla is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but hay pulls his head out easily.
Malla is trying to stand up here but hay is controlling him well.

hay is trying to work for a kimura but Malla is defending well.

Malla keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
hay is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
hay takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Malla regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from hay.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Malla holds on and takes a little breather.
Malla manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

hay is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Malla takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
hay is trying to stand back up.
Malla trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Malla not allowing hay to control his hands.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Khalil Malla showed his dominance in that final round.
