Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mariuz Podolsky! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fernando Neto! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Neto misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fernando Neto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Neto throws a jab but it's blocked by Podolsky. A decent looking body kick lands there for Neto. Neto stuffs the takedown attempt from Podolsky. Podolsky gets slowly back to his feet. Neto's corner calls for a 1-2. Neto obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Neto lands a really nice looking cross but Podolsky seems unphased.
A shot to de liver by Neto. Beautiful body shot. Neto throws a series of strikes that have Podolsky backpedaling.
Nice sprawl there from Neto as Podolsky shoots in. Podolsky takes a jab right on the kisser.
Neto throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Podolsky bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Podolsky working away. Neto manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Neto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Podolsky is working away from the top position though. Neto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Neto wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Podolsky missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Podolsky is breathing heavily. Neto regains full guard. Nicely done. Neto looking for a sweep. Not yet Neto, not yet. Neto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Podolsky gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Neto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Podolsky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Neto is trying to control the position but Podolsky postures up. Neto pulls Podolsky in close to prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Podolsky defends well. Neto has Podolsky pulled in close to control his posture. Neto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Podolsky is one step ahead there. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Podolsky is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Podolsky drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Podolsky jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Podolsky stopping the sweep attempt from Neto. Neto trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neto throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Neto is on top in guard.
Neto postures up in Podolsky's guard and throws a big left but Podolsky blocks it. Neto lands a couple of digs. Neto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Neto postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Podolsky is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Neto, into his guard. Neto is controlling Podolsky's posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neto manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Podolsky manages to get himself to full guard.
Podolsky keeping moving, preventing Neto from controlling successfully. Neto advances position into side control! Neto working the body and head with strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Neto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Neto is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Podolsky has escaped the position, nice work there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fernando Neto dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Neto fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Neto cracks Podolsky with a good jab. Neto lands an overhand right. Nice takedown defense from Neto. No joy for Podolsky on that attempt. Nice sprawl there from Neto as Podolsky shoots in. Neto lands the left hand. Neto cracks Podolsky with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Podolsky shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Neto connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Podolsky takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Neto getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Neto wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Podolsky takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neto connects with the punch. Podolsky walks into a left hand. Neto cracks the inside of Podolsky's front leg. Podolsky on the wrong end of a nice hook. Neto connects with the punch.
Podolsky is rocked! Podolsky takes one to the side of the head.
Oh Podolsky is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Podolsky closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Neto, as that shot connected.
Neto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Podolsky did well to prevent Neto getting side control. Podolsky taking some punishment here, with Neto in his half guard. Neto passes the guard and advances to mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Neto landing strikes from the mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neto looking for a guillotine from mount but Podolsky is having none of it. Podolsky seems to have got his legs back now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Podolsky wants to control but Neto is having none of it. Neto working for a submission but Podolsky is keeping him at bay. Neto seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Podolsky is holding on tight.
Fernando Neto has got the better of the ground game so far. Neto jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Podolsky manages to avoid the submission attempt. Neto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Neto working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Neto has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neto tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Podolsky tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Neto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Neto in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Neto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Neto working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neto connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Neto unloading with bombs! Neto with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Podolsky is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Neto wants to control the pace but Podolsky is squirming around nicely. Podolsky is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Neto locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Podolsky is forced to tap!
