Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pico Dagio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Kawazaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawazaki has chosen Slayer- War Ensemble as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pico Dagio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Kawazaki! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dagio gets the takedown into side control. Kawazaki tries to bench press Dagio off him but Dagio keeps the position. Dagio decides to stand back up. Kawazaki shoots and misses and Dagio counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Dagio controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dagio stands up from guard. Let's bang! Kawazaki closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dagio to the mat! Dagio manages to get full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kawazaki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dagio swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kawazaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kawazaki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kawazaki looks gassed! Dagio pushes Kawazaki off and gets back to his feet.
Kawazaki takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Kawazaki showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dagio.
Dagio scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dagio trying to control from half guard but Kawazaki is working away. Kawazaki works his way to full guard. Good work. Dagio controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Kawazaki wants to sweep here but Dagio controlling him for the moment. Dagio stands up over Kawazaki, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Dagio controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dagio works over Kawazaki with some ground and pound from guard. Dagio gets to his feet. Kawazaki looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Dagio shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Dagio scoring with punches to the head and body. Dagio trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dagio is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kawazaki has his foot on Dagio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dagio works his way back into a safe position though. Dagio trying to control but Kawazaki is working from the bottom. Dagio thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dagio content to stall in guard here. Dagio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dagio seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kawazaki for as long as he can get away with. Dagio's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Dagio wants to control from the top but Kawazaki keeps moving.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Pico Dagio just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Kawazaki with a lazy takedown attempt and Dagio counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dagio distracts Kawazaki with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Dagio thows a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawazaki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dagio manages to get himself to full guard.
Kawazaki looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dagio tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kawazaki trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kawazaki is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kawazaki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dagio is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kawazaki, into his guard. Kawazaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dagio's guard. Kawazaki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dagio manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kawazaki has Dagio in his guard. Dagio gets to his feet. Kawazaki looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Dagio shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kawazaki's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dagio is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Kawazaki keeping moving, preventing Dagio from controlling successfully. Kawazaki looking for a guillotine here but Dagio defends easily.

Dagio works to advance to full mount. Kawazaki defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Kawazaki is working to get back to half guard.
Kawazaki regains half guard. Kawazaki tries to roll over but Dagio keeps him under control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kawazaki looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kawazaki gets full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pico Dagio dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kawazaki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Kawazaki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dagio defends it well. Dagio wants to get back to full guard. Kawazaki is looking for a kimura here.
Dagio tries to roll over but Kawazaki keeps him under control. Kawazaki tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dagio knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Dagio actively working from the bottom here. Kawazaki prevents Dagio from improving his position. Dagio looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kawazaki trying to mount his opponent but Dagio defends it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Dagio fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kawazaki sprawls well initially but Dagio persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Dagio is nestled in close to Kawazaki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Dagio is tying to control. Kawazaki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dagio is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kawazaki is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Dagio is looking to control Kawazaki's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dagio avoid being mounted? Dagio gets back to full guard.

Dagio doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kawazaki. Kawazaki is trying to work for a kimura but Dagio is defending well.

Kawazaki advances position into side control! You can see the frustration on Dagio's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pico Dagio overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kawazaki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dagio has escaped the position, nice work there. Dagio tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kawazaki wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Dagio stops Kawazaki from passing to mount. Dagio manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Kawazaki moves into full guard.
Kawazaki looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Dagio is defending well. Kawazaki quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Dagio has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Kawazaki celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
