PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Chimpo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chimpo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Crazy Train kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Chimpo!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Chimpo.
Summers circles away from the clinch attempt.
Summers takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A lazy left from Chimpo finds it's target.
Summers shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chimpo pinned against the cage. Chimpo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Chimpo tries a head kick but it misses.
Chimpo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Summers.
Chimpo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A big left from Chimpo misses.
Chimpo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Summers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chimpo's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Chimpo duly obliges.

Chimpo throws a right hand that Summers ducks under and follows up with a left that Summers also avoids with ease.

Chimpo lands with a kick to the temple. Summers shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Chimpo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Summers circles away quickly and effectively.

Summers is trying to drag Chimpo to the mat but Chimpo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Chimpo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chimpo wants to clinch up but Summers keeps it at a distance.
Johnny Chimpo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Summers misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Summers walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Chimpo shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Chimpo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chimpo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Summers. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Chimpo throws a nice looking combination but Summers bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Summers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chimpo is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chimpo and Summers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Summers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Summers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Chimpo can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Summers drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chimpo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Summers has Chimpo in his guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Chimpo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Chimpo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chimpo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Summers has his foot on Chimpo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chimpo works his way back into a safe position though.

Johnny Chimpo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
