6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Eriksen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Nelson! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eriksen moves in looking to clinch but Nelson pushes him off. Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Eriksen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Nelson fails with the takedown. Eriksen misses with a series of wild punches.
Eriksen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Eriksen cracks Nelson with a big right hand and Nelson goes down!
Nelson is rocked!
It looks like Gunnar Nelson has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Eriksen is looking to stand up but Nelson won't let him. Nelson is still in real trouble! Can Eriksen finish him? Eriksen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nelson on the ground. Nelson seems to have recovered his senses. Nelson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Eriksen trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nelson's guard. Nelson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Eriksen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson pushes Eriksen off and scrambles back to his feet.
Nelson looks gassed! Eriksen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Eriksen scores with a jab. Nelson acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Eriksen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Eriksen waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Nelson. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Nelson to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Eriksen is looking to stand up but Nelson won't let him. Eriksen trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eriksen is looking to stand up but Nelson won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eriksen trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Eriksen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Eriksen misses with a double jab.
Eriksen throws a body punch but Nelson moves out of range. Eriksen just misses with a punch to the body.
Nelson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Nelson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Marshall Eriksen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunnar Nelson. Eriksen clinches. Nelson tries to pull guard but Eriksen holds him up against the cage and eventually Nelson drops back down to his feet.

I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Eriksen loads up on a big right hand but Nelson slips the punch. Nelson shoots in and drives through. Eriksen sprawls well. Eriksen throws a left that rocks Nelson and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Eriksen dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Nelson regain composure!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Eriksen wants to stand but Nelson is controlling his arm. Nelson is trying to control Eriksen's posture but Eriksen avoids it. Eriksen scoring with punches and elbows. Eriksen tries to stand but Nelson is controlling his head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson is trying to get back to half guard. Eriksen scores with a couple of short elbows. Eriksen tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Eriksen cracks Nelson with a big right hand but Nelson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Eriksen working the ground and pound. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Eriksen looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Nelson is avoiding damage well.

Nelson has hold of Eriksen's hands but Eriksen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Eriksen wants to stand up but Nelson is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Eriksen throws a lazy right hand but Nelson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Eriksen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nelson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Eriksen finds it's way round the side to connect with Nelson's head. Eriksen stuffs the takedown. Eriksen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Eriksen looks to land a combination but Nelson avoids it well. Eriksen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Nice straight punches there by Eriksen. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Eriksen. Nelson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Eriksen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Eriksen tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nelson defending well as Eriksen loads up on a big left hand. Nelson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Eriksen with a jab. Gunnar Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Eriksen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nelson.
And that's the end of the fight! Marshall Eriksen showed his dominance in that final round. Well Eriksen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
