PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Cragen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sarkis Terteryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cragen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Captain Cragen. The crowd seem to be enjoying Terteryan's choice of entrance music: Smashing Pumpkins-Bullet With Butterfly Wings. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Cragen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sarkis Terteryan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terteryan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Cragen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Terteryan as he jumps to the side.
Horrible takedown by Cragen or perhaps it was just good defense by Terteryan which made him look bad.
Terteryan stuffs the takedown attempt from Cragen. Cragen gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Cragen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cragen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Terteryan as he avoids it easily.

Terteryan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cragen's guard.
Terteryan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Terteryan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Terteryan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cragen keeping moving, preventing Terteryan from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Terteryan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Terteryan wants to control from the top but Cragen keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cragen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

You can see the frustration on Terteryan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Terteryan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Cragen is breathing heavily.

Terteryan wants to stand but Cragen is controlling the position.
Terteryan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cragen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Cragen shoots in for a double leg but Terteryan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Terteryan dives in and grabs Cragen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cragen pushes down on Terteryan's head and hops out.

Terteryan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cragen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Terteryan moves into range and connects with a jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cragen is defended easily by Terteryan.

Sarkis Terteryan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Well Terteryan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
