PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between TK Morta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Salvador Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, TK Morta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Salvador Cannon!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cannon moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
TK Morta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morta throws a shot from downtown. Cannon moves away and avoids it.
Morta tries to clinch up.
Morta moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Morta stalks Cannon and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cannon's face. Cannon staggers backwards, shaken.
Cannon ducks under a wild hook from Morta.
Cannon takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Morta stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Morta throws a right hand that Cannon ducks under and follows up with a left that Cannon also avoids with ease.
Morta lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Morta keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Morta moves in looking to clinch but Cannon pushes him off.
Morta stuffs the takedown attempt from Cannon. Cannon gets slowly back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cannon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Morta looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cannon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Morta connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Morta moves into the clinch successfully.
Cannon blocking some punches.
Cannon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Morta just stands there and leans against the cage.
TK Morta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Salvador Cannon.

A looping hook to the body misses from Cannon. Morta does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cannon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Morta avoids it really well and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice uppercut lands for Morta. That snapped Cannon's head back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cannon takes a swing at Morta's ribcage but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Morta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cannon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Morta moves away.
Morta throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Cannon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cannon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cannon is looking to stall here but Morta recovers full guard.
Morta wants to stand and escape but Cannon is having none of it.
Morta bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cannon's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Cannon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
