Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Afonso Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Afonso Ferreira had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Afonso Ferreira has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferreira shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jackson is trying to defend but Ferreira finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Ferreira seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Ferreira sits in half guard. Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ferreira in particular looking to stall. Jackson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ferreira pulls his head out easily. Still in half guard, Ferreira seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ferreira has Jackson up against the ropes in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ferreira defends well. Afonso Ferreira overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ferreira stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.

That's better than Ferreira was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jackson is in all sorts of trouble here.
