Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Marks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Floppy McPoppins! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McPoppins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Marks is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McPoppins pulls his head out easily. McPoppins wants to take a breather but Marks is having none of it. McPoppins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Marks keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. McPoppins is looking to take a break and control but Marks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Marks trying to hold on to McPoppins's head to control him but McPoppins postures up.
Marks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. McPoppins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marks keeps working. Marks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McPoppins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McPoppins's back! Marks is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. McPoppins knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften McPoppins for a finish. McPoppins rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marks seems to be looking for submissions.
Marks is stalling here. McPoppins is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Marks seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and McPoppins has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. McPoppins lands an elbow. McPoppins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marks keeps working. McPoppins misses with an attempted head punch from side control. A lull in the action here as McPoppins stalls from top position. McPoppins throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Marks on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Marks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McPoppins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Marks dodges the ground and pound from McPoppins. Marks takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McPoppins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marks keeps working. McPoppins misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Marks is trying to control McPoppins's posture but McPoppins avoids it. Marks tries to improve position but can't. Marks gets back to half guard. Marks tries to get to full guard but McPoppins has control of the leg. Marks has hold of McPoppins's hands but McPoppins slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Marks won't allow McPoppins to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McPoppins prevents Marks from standing back up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Marks manages to regain full guard. Nice work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marks is on top in guard.
Marks is pushing down on McPoppins's leg trying to pass to half guard. McPoppins is fighting to maintain full guard but Marks has managed to sneak the leg through. McPoppins is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Marks landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. McPoppins makes his way to full guard, as Marks worked for a kimura.
McPoppins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Marks tries to lock up and control but McPoppins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Marks tries to reverse the position but McPoppins maintains control. The referee warns Marks that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Marks taking shots to the head. McPoppins is in the full mount, landing strikes. Marks is trying to escape the mount.
Marks is in a horrible position here. McPoppins smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McPoppins dominating with strikes here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McPoppins punishing his opponent with strikes.
Marks is rocked! McPoppins avoids the attempt from Marks to control. Marks is trying desperately to improve position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Floppy McPoppins dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
McPoppins closes the distance and clinches up with Marks, looking for a takedown. McPoppins pushes Marks against the cage but Marks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marks is defended easily by McPoppins. McPoppins displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marks. McPoppins shoots in for a double leg but Marks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Marks shoots in for a takedown but McPoppins shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Marks. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck for Marks with that takedown attempt. McPoppins shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. McPoppins passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Marks! Marks is looking to improve his position but McPoppins isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marks takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marks working to try and regain half guard.

Oh Marks is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! A big strike lands for McPoppins! That's really hurt Marks and he's turned his back - McPoppins keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! McPoppins jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
