And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Valentjin Overmaars!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniel shoots in for a takedown but Overmaars shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Overmaars misses with a takedown

and Daniel counters with a single leg into guard. Overmaars didn't expect that.
Overmaars is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Daniel tries to free his leg and advance position but Overmaars is retaining full guard.
Overmaars is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Daniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Overmaars counters by moving into the clinch.
Daniel tries to pull guard but Overmaars holds him up against the cage and eventually Daniel drops back down to his feet.

The referee asks Daniel politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Daniel prefers to stall for the moment though.

Daniel goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Overmaars rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Daniel's guard! Nice work there by Overmaars!
Daniel wants to stand and escape but Overmaars is having none of it.

Daniel is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Overmaars is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Overmaars has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Overmaars really wants to buck Daniel off and get back to his feet.

Can Overmaars hold on?! Daniel is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Bryan Daniel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Valentjin Overmaars has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
