Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doadi Rafi Meldir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Newell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meldir comes to the ring accompanied by Khala Ya Khala. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newell tries to bum rush Meldir with a series of wild strikes but Meldir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Meldir fails with an attempt to clinch.
Newell darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Meldir tries to roll over but Newell keeps him under control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Meldir tries to kick Newell off but Newell keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Meldir landing small, sideways elbows.
Meldir is refusing to be controlled, as Newell sits in half guard.

Newell stalling away here and it's allowed Meldir to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Newell swats away the attempt to clinch by Meldir.
Meldir throws a hook to the side of Newell's head but Newell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Meldir tries to close the distance and clinch but Newell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Meldir has taken the fight to the clinch.
Newell pushes off an throws an elbow but Meldir leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.

Newell is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Meldir pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Newell connects with a nasty looking knee right to Meldir's face.

Meldir lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Newell creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Newell tries to score a body lock takedown but Meldir shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Newell pushes off an throws an elbow but Meldir leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Meldir throws a knee to the head but misses.
Newell drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Meldir gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Doadi Rafi Meldir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Newell.
Newell is trying to stall.
Meldir has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Newell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A nice left hand lands by Meldir.
Meldir gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Meldir throwing shots but Newell is blocking nicely.
Meldir takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Newell wants to control the action here but instead Meldir manages to pass to full mount!

Meldir takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Newell takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Newell takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Meldir's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
