PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dale Boomberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Aha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dale Boomberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Aha!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boomberg shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aha as he jumps to the side.
Aha pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Aha drives through and clinches with Boomberg against the cage.
Aha has had enough of the clinch but Boomberg keeps him there for the moment.
The referee is keeping an eye on Aha - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Boomberg turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Boomberg is trying to get an arm triangle but Aha is defending well.

Boomberg swings around for an armbar but Aha sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Boomberg's guard.

Aha wants to stand but Boomberg has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Aha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boomberg swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Aha trying to control the position from guard on top but Boomberg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Aha postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Aha wants to control from the top but Boomberg keeps moving.
Aha wants to get up but he can't break Boomberg's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Aha stands and steps away. Boomberg gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Boomberg is looking for a kimura but Aha is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Boomberg to get the leverage.

Boomberg is thwarting Aha's attempts to control the position.

Boomberg is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aha doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Boomberg.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Aha wants to clinch

and Boomberg counters with a takedown into side control.

Boomberg goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Aha rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Boomberg's guard! Nice work there by Aha!

Aha decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Boomberg swats away the attempt to clinch by Aha.
Aha tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Boomberg counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Boomberg is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dale Boomberg dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Aha tries to clinch there but Boomberg circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Boomberg has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Aha is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Boomberg changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Aha fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dale Boomberg will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Aha looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Aha escapes and gets back to his feet.

and Boomberg counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Aha wants to sweep here but Boomberg controlling him for the moment.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boomberg, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
