Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Morton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, maget face! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for face, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
face throws a right and a left that both miss. Morton moves into the clinch. Morton is trying to trip face. He has hold of a leg but face is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Morton persists though and gets the takedown into guard. face wants to get back to his feet but Morton is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Morton gets to his feet. face looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Nice shot by face. Morton displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. A clash of legs there as Morton blocks the low kick. face throws a combination that misses and Morton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Morton looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Morton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Morton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Morton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but face is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! face wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morton has knee on belly and moves into mount. Morton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but face manages to avoid the submission attempt. Morton is breathing heavily. Morton decides to stand back up. Morton steps back and let's face get back to his feet. face tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morton swats him away and circles back towards the center. Morton slips under a jab. Morton fails with a takedown attempt. face swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Morton counters with a shoot takedown. face fights it but they end up in guard. Morton is pushing down on face's leg trying to pass to half guard. face is fighting to maintain full guard but Morton has managed to sneak the leg through. Morton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morton stands up from half guard. face tries a head kick but it misses.
face is looking to clinch but Morton is avoiding it.
face throws the left hand but Morton avoids the punch easily. face throws a hook to the side of Morton's head but Morton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. face closes the distance but Morton moves to the side and Morton makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. face throws a left and a right that both miss
and Morton connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. face tries to bum rush Morton with a series of wild strikes but Morton uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Morton keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! face tries to clinch up and Morton counters with a flying knee. Nice. face misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Morton looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Morton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Morton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Morton wants to pass the guard but face is keeping the position. face wants to stand up but Morton is controlling him. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if face can do anything to dispel that myth. Morton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. face is keeping the position for now. Morton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Morton is standing up over face. face looks to escape but Morton dives into side control.
Morton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Morton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by face, who protects the arm well. Morton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. face knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. face wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

face stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. face throws a lazy head kick and Morton connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. face ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Morton moves away. face wants to clinch up but Morton keeps it at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. face doesn't seem bothered though. Morton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Morton advances to mount. face is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. face really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. face is in a horrible position here. Morton smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Morton with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Morton circles away from the clinch attempt so Morton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. face is looking to stand up but Morton isn't so interested in that idea. Mark Morton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. face fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Morton looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. face tries to clinch but fails miserably and Morton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in face's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Morton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. face swivels though and keeps the full guard. Morton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down face for as long as he can get away with. face wants to stand up but Morton is controlling him. Morton drops back looking for a leg! face is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and face manages to kick Morton off! Morton jumps back into face's guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for face!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Morton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Morton is landing with some decent strikes but face is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. face wants to get back to his feet.
