Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Koey Nagata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Simon!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nagata throws the kick towards the body but Simon avoids it.
Nagata rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Simon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nagata.
Nagata wants to clinch.
No joy there for Simon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nagata throws a right and a left that Simon avoids nicely.
Nagata misses with the combination.
Nagata misses with a double jab

and Simon counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Simon prevents Nagata from breaking the clinch.
Nagata wants to break the clinch but can't.

Simon breaks the clinch.
Nagata looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nagata shoots in but Simon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Simon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nagata looks to land a combination but Simon avoids it well.
Nagata shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Simon but Simon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nagata lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Simon backs up against the cage.
Simon looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nagata falls off balance throwing a combination
and Simon counters with a nice body kick.
Nagata is breathing heavily.

Simon drives through and clinches with Nagata against the cage.

Simon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Simon throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Nagata stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Simon follows into mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Simon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Nagata really wants to buck Simon off and get back to his feet.
Nagata knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simon on the ground.

Nagata is rocked!

Simon is working for a guillotine from mount but Nagata frees his head quite easily.
Nagata is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nagata wants to get back to his feet.
Simon trying to control but Nagata is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nagata is trying desperately to improve position.
Nagata tries to buck Simon off but he can't manage it.
Simon misses with a head shot.
Nagata is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nagata on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nagata tries to get out of the position.
Nagata wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Simon is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nagata can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Nagata tries to buck Simon off but he can't manage it.
Simon tries to control but Nagata wriggling away.

Nagata is looking to get to half guard.
Nagata is working hard here to advance position.
Simon landing strikes, looking to finish!
Nagata bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Simon lands a couple of shots from the bottom.
Nagata has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Simon is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nagata has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Simon is proving hard to escape from.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Nagata tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Simon counters with a head kick. That will keep Nagata thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Simon gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Simon breaks the clinch.
Nagata throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Simon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nagata fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nagata ducks under a wild hook from Simon.
Simon wants to clinch up but Nagata keeps it at a distance.
Nice combo by Nagata! Oh, that's hurt him - Simon falls to the canvas and Nagata follows him into side control.


Simon is rocked!


It looks like Travis Simon has been cut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nagata decides to stand back up. Nagata steps back and let's Simon get back to his feet.
Simon is still on wobbly legs! Can Nagata finish him?
Nagata throws a combination that misses
and Simon counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nagata throws a series of punches but Simon moves out of range.
Nagata throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis Simon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Travis Simon's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nagata connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Simon! He's out on his feet! Nagata rushes in and drops Simon with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
