Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karl James Noons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Will Oldham! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Noons misses with a series of wild punches.
Noons throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Oldham. Oldham ducks right into an uppercut from Noons. Oldham uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Noons. Noons throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Noons fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Oldham is defended easily by Noons. No luck with that takedown attempt from Oldham. Noons throws a right and a left that Oldham avoids nicely. Nice defenses there by Oldham.
That's one minute gone in the round. Noons lands with a good body shot. Noons misses with a few strikes there.
Oldham takes a shot right to the bread basket. Noons stuns Oldham with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Oldham fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Karl James Noons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Oldham. Noons lands a nice shot to the body.
Oldham looks gassed! Oldham throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Noons's waist but Noons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Oldham off to one side. Noons will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A combination from Noons does no damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Noons misses with a few strikes there.
Noons with a body punch. A glancing blow. Noons displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Will Oldham has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A jab from Noons does it's job there. Noons throws a right hand that Oldham ducks under and follows up with a left that Oldham also avoids with ease. Noons lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Noons. Oldham fails with the takedown. Noons scores with a jab to the body. Noons getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Oldham walks straight into a right hand from Noons - that's dropped him! Noons jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Oldham from any more punishment! Oldham complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
