Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronald Reagan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuri Zurutuza! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zurutuza displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reagan. Zurutuza looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Zurutuza fails in his attempt to clinch. Zurutuza throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Zurutuza plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zurutuza tries a head kick but it misses.
Reagan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reagan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reagan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Reagan drops back looking for a leg! Zurutuza is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zurutuza manages to kick Reagan off! Reagan jumps back into Zurutuza's guard. Reagan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reagan drops back looking for a leg! Zurutuza is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zurutuza manages to kick Reagan off! Reagan jumps back into Zurutuza's guard. Reagan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reagan passes easily into side control. Nice work. Reagan moves into full mount! Reagan has isolated one of Zurutuza's arms. Zurutuza looking to fight him off but Reagan twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
