1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rennon Silva! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Silva tries to clinch up. Butch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely. Silva tries to clinch up but Butch circles away and keeps his distance. Silva has a takedown stuffed. Butch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Silva moves into range and clinches up with Butch. Butch prevents a takedown attempt there.

Butch content to control rather than advance. Silva pushes Butch off looking to stand but Butch dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Butch trying to control the pace. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Silva is looking to escape. Silva looks gassed!
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Butch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Butch swats him away and circles back towards the center. Butch looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Silva is trying to stand up here but Butch is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Butch lands strikes from half guard. Well, if Butch is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Butch takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Silva is trying to stand up here but Butch is controlling him well. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Silva is looking to stand up but Butch isn't so interested in that idea. Butch scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Butch landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Butch winds up and cracks Silva with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Butch is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Butch seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with. Silva is trying to stand back up but Butch is controlling him
