Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Draven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russel Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Draven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russel Bell!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bell is defended easily by Draven.

Bell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Bell manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bell managing to control the position.
Draven looking to sit in guard and control but Bell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Draven is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bell is controlling him.
Bell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bell controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Bell looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Draven wants to stand up but Bell is controlling him.
Bell is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
I looks like Bell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Russel Bell just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bell fails with a takedown attempt.
Bell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Eric Draven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Russel Bell.

Draven waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bell.
Bell connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Draven stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Draven wants it to stay on the feet.
Draven misses with a straight right.
Nice uppercut there from Draven.
Bell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Draven throws out the jab.
Bell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Draven tries to avoid it but Bell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Draven to the ground. Draven escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck for Bell with that takedown attempt.
Bell looks gassed!
Bell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Draven as he avoids it easily.
Draven moves into range and connects with a jab.

Bell is still on wobbly legs! Can Draven finish him?

Draven looks to throw the jab but Bell is out of range.
Draven throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Draven thows a left - swing and a miss!
The fighters circling - Draven throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bell seems to have recovered his senses.
Draven missing with a left hand there. Bell was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bell has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Draven finds it's way round the side to connect with Bell's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Draven.

Bell scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Draven is looking to improve his position.
Bell is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Draven dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Draven has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bell is controlling Draven's posture.
Bell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Bell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Draven manages to get himself to full guard.

Bell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Let's hope that Bell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Draven wants to stand but Bell is controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Despite being in the dominant position, Russel Bell just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bell moves into range and clinches up with Draven.
Draven is trying to break the clinch but Bell is controlling him.

Bell turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Bell slows the pace down.
Bell is breathing heavily.

Draven is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Draven's face as Bell controls the position.
Draven is trying to work for a sweep but Bell has mounted him!
Draven is in all sorts of trouble here.
Bell is in the full mount, landing strikes.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bell looking to control and managing it successfully.

Bell is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Draven has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Bell controlling the position easily from mount.
Draven is desperately trying to improve his position but Bell has a good base and remains in mount.
Bell controlling his opponent.
Draven wants to control but Bell is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Russel Bell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Draven throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bell has closed the distance and engaged Draven in a clinch.

Bell has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Draven uses from the top position.
Draven wants to get up but he can't break Bell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bell wants to sweep here but Draven controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Draven trying to control but Bell is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bell is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Draven is trying to control Bell's posture but Bell avoids it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bell tries to advance to mount but Draven denies him.
Bell just content to control the position.
You can see the frustration on Draven's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Draven is trying to buck Bell off.
Bell happy to just control the position for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Draven avoids it really well and circles away.
Draven scores with a hook to the body. Bell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

And that's the end of the fight!
Russel Bell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
