Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Sewell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasya Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Petrov's choice of entrance music: Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Joshua Sewell has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Sewell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasya Petrov! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petrov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sewell tries to stand but Petrov is controlling from the bottom. Sewell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Petrov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Sewell is trying to maintain the position but Petrov is very close to passing his half guard. Petrov keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Petrov wants to take a breather but Sewell is having none of it. Sewell is looking for a sweep. Petrov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Petrov wants to pass to mount but Sewell is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sewell pushes Petrov off looking to stand but Petrov dives back in and keeps control.
Petrov wants to control but Sewell is keeping him busy.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Petrov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sewell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Petrov throws a sloppy head kick and Sewell moves out of range easily. Sewell swats away the attempt to clinch by Petrov. Sewell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sewell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Sewell wants to stand but Petrov is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Sewell working for a guillotine from mount but Petrov is in no mood to give up. Sewell is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sewell goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Petrov is on top in guard.
Sewell working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Petrov. Sewell really is a fat lump. Petrov passes into half guard. Sewell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Petrov works his way into full mount! Sewell tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Sewell that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Petrov looking to control but Sewell is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Petrov controlling his opponent. Petrov wants to control the pace but Sewell is squirming around nicely. Petrov scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Sewell?
Petrov connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sewell tries to hold on but Petrov pushes him away. Sewell is looking to improve his position but Petrov isn't that keen on the idea. Petrov lands a heavy elbow. Petrov working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Sewell is looking to get to half guard. BOOM! Petrov connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vasya Petrov dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Petrov throws a sloppy head kick and Sewell moves out of range easily. Sewell closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Petrov did well to prevent Sewell getting side control. Sewell decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Petrov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sewell tries a low kick but Petrov avoids it. Petrov drives through with a takedown into guard. Sewell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Sewell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sewell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sewell is looking to stand up but Petrov isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Petrov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrov trying to control but Sewell is working from the bottom. Sewell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Petrov cracks Sewell with a solid left hand. Petrov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Petrov tries to clinch up. Petrov rushes Sewell and presses him up against the ropes. Sewell goes for a takedown in the clinch but Petrov prevents it.
Petrov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petrov clinches with his opponent.
Petrov breaks from the clinch.
Petrov tries to clinch up but Sewell circles away and keeps his distance. Petrov wants to clinch. Sewell shoots in for a double leg but Petrov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Joshua Sewell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Petrov gets a clinch. Sewell takes a shot to the head. Petrov tries a knee to the head but Sewell blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Vasya Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Petrov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Petrov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Sewell paws at him with a jab and circles away. Petrov throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sewell. Sewell closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Petrov did well to prevent Sewell getting side control. Sewell is keen to just control but Petrov is a slippery customer. Sewell is really struggling to control Petrov but he's trying to hold on to the position. Petrov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sewell pulls his head out easily. Petrov regains full guard. Nicely done. Petrov throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sewell trying to control but Petrov is working from the bottom. Petrov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sewell's corner is telling him to maintain position. Sewell postures up in Petrov's guard and throws a big left but Petrov blocks it. Sewell wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving. Sewell looking to sit in guard and control but Petrov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Vasya Petrov will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
A head kick from Petrov lands but Sewell takes it in his stride. Sewell keeps the fight on the outside. Petrov takes the fight into the clinch. Sewell is looking to control Petrov's arms but Petrov gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sewell has his back to the ropes. Sewell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sewell fails to pull guard.
Petrov wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sewell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrov throws a head kick that Sewell semi-blocks.
The fight stays on the outside here - Petrov looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Petrov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sewell. Petrov has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Petrov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sewell swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sewell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Petrov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Petrov is trying to maintain the position but Sewell is very close to passing his half guard. Sewell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Petrov is pressing down on Sewell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sewell is pushing down on Petrov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Petrov is fighting to maintain full guard but Sewell has managed to sneak the leg through. Sewell not landing any meaningful shots this time. Sewell is looking for a kimura here.
Sewell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Petrov defends it well. Petrov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sewell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sewell's back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sewell breaks Petrov's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Petrov holds on and takes a little breather. Sewell trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sewell pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Petrov is keeping the position for now. Petrov looking to control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Petrov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sewell avoids the head kick by Petrov.
Sewell leaves Petrov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Petrov shoots for a double leg takedown but Sewell sprawls well. He's pushed Petrov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Joshua Sewell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Vasya Petrov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Petrov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Sewell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joshua Sewell. Well Petrov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
