PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Efe Mafusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jejomar Binay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Efe Mafusa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jejomar Binay!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mafusa throws a sloppy head kick and Binay moves out of range easily.
Mafusa circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mafusa scores with a crisp jab that stopped Binay in his tracks.


It looks like Jejomar Binay has been cut.
Binay misses with a double jab.
Mafusa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mafusa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Binay shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mafusa as he jumps to the side.
Mafusa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Binay.
A head kick misses from Binay.
Mafusa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Binay.
Efe Mafusa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jejomar Binay.
Mafusa cracks a nice hook into Binay's ribs.
Binay tries to clinch but Mafusa moves out of range.
Mafusa dives in and grabs Binay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Binay pushes down on Mafusa's head and hops out.
The fight stays on the outside here - Binay looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Binay avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Binay closes the distance but Mafusa moves to the side

and Mafusa counters by clinching up.
Mafusa tries to land a knee to the head but Binay blocks with his arms.
Mafusa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Binay smiles and moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Binay can't get the takedown.
Binay with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mafusa wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Binay's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Binay misses with a head kick.
Binay looks gassed!
Mafusa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Binay paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mafusa throws a head kick but Binay moves out of range.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mafusa misses with a head kick.

Binay goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Mafusa moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Binay clinches up with Mafusa and pushes him back against the cage.
Mafusa wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mafusa wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Binay has him pressed against the cage.
Mafusa tries to pull guard but Binay holds him up against the cage and eventually Mafusa drops back down to his feet.
Binay is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Binay gets control of Mafusa's arms and successfully pulls guard. Binay will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mafusa wants to stand but Binay is controlling his posture from full guard.
Binay is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Binay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mafusa decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mafusa throws a head kick but Binay moves out of range.
Binay tries to clinch but Mafusa is having none of it.
Binay takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Binay misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mafusa counters with a head kick. That will keep Binay thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Binay shoots in for a double leg but Mafusa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Mafusa moves into the clinch.

Binay goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mafusa prevents it.

Mafusa fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Binay prevents Mafusa from breaking the clinch.
Binay takes an elbow to the forehead.

Mafusa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mafusa drives through and clinches with Binay against the cage.
Binay fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mafusa can't break the clinch.

Mafusa manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Mafusa breaks the clinch.
Efe Mafusa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mafusa cracks the inside of Binay's front leg.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mafusa fails with the takedown.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mafusa tries to clinch but Binay is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mafusa tries to close the distance and clinch but Binay swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mafusa lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Mafusa shoots in but Binay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mafusa tries to bum rush Binay with a series of wild strikes but Binay uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mafusa is looking to clinch but Binay is avoiding it.
Binay misses with a two punch combination.

Mafusa lands a big head kick that sends Binay tumbling to the mat! Mafusa takes a step backwards and waves Binay back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Binay is still on wobbly legs! Can Mafusa finish him?
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Mafusa has cracked Binay with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Mafusa lands another huge swinging hook and Binay tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Binay, before Mafusa can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Efe Mafusa!
