Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Warden Kanata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Codie Ober (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kanata comes to the cage accompanied by Small Town Bringdown. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Warden Kanata! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Codie Ober! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kanata closes the distance and clinches up with Ober, looking for a takedown. Kanata pushes Ober against the cage but Ober circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ober throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ober doesn't manage to clinch there - Kanata circles away.
Kanata throws a right and a left that Ober avoids nicely. Kanata wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Ober is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kanata. Ober throws a combination that misses and Kanata counters by moving into the clinch. Kanata drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ober pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ober looks to land a combination but Kanata avoids it well. Kanata closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ober tries to escape but Kanata is in control. The ground and pound from Kanata seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Kanata misses with the ground and pound. Ober is not content to let Kanata control the position. Kanata moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kanata is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ober is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kanata asserts his dominance and retains side control. Ober is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Kanata decides to stand back up. Ober gets caught flat footed, as Kanata shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Kanata is looking to stand up but Ober won't let him. Ober keeping moving, preventing Kanata from controlling successfully. Kanata won't allow Ober to get back to his feet. Kanata trying to control the position from guard on top but Ober is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ober manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Kanata darts in and clinches Ober up against the cage. Kanata decides to pull guard. Kanata has his foot on Ober's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ober works his way back into a safe position though. Ober tries to stand but Kanata is controlling from the bottom. Kanata trying to keep a closed guard but Ober is proving a slippery customer.
Kanata kicks Ober off and gets to his feet. Ober tries to clinch but Kanata moves away and Kanata decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ober's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ober being controlled here, momentarily. Kanata trying to control the position from guard on top but Ober is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ober pushes Kanata off and gets back to his feet.
Ober throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Kanata tumbling to the canvas!
Kanata is rocked! Kanata has a closed guard, preventing Ober from standing up. Oh Kanata is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kanata seems to have got his legs back now. Kanata is looking for a triangle but Ober pushes his legs off easily.
Ober gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Ober fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kanata on the side of the head. Ober tries to clinch up and Kanata counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ober fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A punch combination from Ober misses. Codie Ober is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kanata has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Warden Kanata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ober uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Kanata looks for a takedown but Ober sprawls well. Kanata changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ober looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Kanata scores with a couple of short elbows. Kanata tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kanata has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kanata in side control, throwing shots but Ober defends. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ober wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Kanata is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ober has escaped the position, nice work there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Warden Kanata dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kanata looks for a takedown but Ober sprawls well. Ober tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ober slow jab from Kanata misses its intended target. Ober throws a nice looking combination but Kanata bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ober swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kanata darts in and clinches Ober up against the cage. Ober wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Kanata wants the takedown. Ober is fighting it off but Kanata persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ober's guard against the cage. Ober is looking to stand up but Kanata isn't so interested in that idea. Warden Kanata overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ober really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kanata. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Kanata fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ober cracks Kanata with a good jab. Kanata throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ober's waist but Ober gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kanata off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Warden Kanata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ober misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kanata has managed to clinch.
Kanata unloads a knee to the mid-section. Ober lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Ober is trying to break free. Kanata blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kanata looking for a takedown. Ober escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ober missing with a left hand there. Kanata was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Ober throws a right and a left that Kanata avoids nicely. Ober throws a head kick that misses. Kanata rushes Ober and presses him up against the cage. Kanata working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Kanata leaning his opponent against the cage. Kanata breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kanata forces Ober back against the cage and clinches. A right hand to the body from Kanata.
Ober wants to get back to striking at distance but Kanata won't allow it.
Kanata escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ober jabs Kanata right on the nose. Kanata blinks but takes it well. Ober throws a right and a left that Kanata avoids nicely. Kanata shoots for a double leg takedown but Ober sprawls well. He's pushed Kanata's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ober fails to land with a series of punches.
Ober throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Kanata stumbling backwards into the cage! Kanata bounces back off the cage towards Ober, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Ober lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Ober celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Codie Ober!
