Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Panther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Panther!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Panther.

Panther rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coleman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Horrible takedown by Coleman or perhaps it was just good defense by Panther which made him look bad.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
No joy there for Coleman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Coleman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Panther is not content to let Coleman control the position.
Panther pushes Coleman off looking to stand but Coleman dives back in and keeps control.

Coleman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Coleman seems to be working for a kimura but Panther defends the submission attempt.
Panther looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Panther is trying to stand back up but Coleman is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Panther turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Coleman throws a nice looking combination but Panther bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Coleman clinches with his opponent.
Coleman stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Panther on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Panther breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Coleman thuds his shin into the meat of Panther's side.
Coleman shoots in but no luck this time.
Coleman leaves Panther with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Coleman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Panther to the mat! Panther manages to get full guard.

Coleman drops back looking for a leg! Panther is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Panther manages to kick Coleman off! Coleman jumps back into Panther's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Coleman is really struggling to control Panther but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Panther can do anything to dispel that myth.
Coleman throws a strike but Panther rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Panther really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coleman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Panther decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Panther shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Coleman counters by moving into the clinch.

Coleman has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Panther regains guard immediately.
Panther is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coleman is controlling him.

Coleman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Coleman is on top in guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Panther pushes Coleman away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Coleman gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Coleman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Panther keeps working.

Panther lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coleman circles away quickly and effectively.
Panther takes a swing at Coleman's ribcage but misses.
Coleman pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Panther slaps away a takedown attempt from Coleman, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coleman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Panther's waist but Panther gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coleman off to one side.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Panther throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Coleman's waist but Coleman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Panther off to one side.
Coleman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Coleman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
