Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Abbate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toni Malmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Nick Abbate has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbate shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Malmi as he jumps to the side.
Malmi looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Abbate gets a takedown into half guard.
Abbate looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Malmi is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Abbate pulls his head out easily.
Abbate thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Malmi tries to roll over but Abbate keeps him under control.
Abbate wants to free his trapped foot but Malmi is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Abbate is working for a kimura but Malmi is defending it quite comfortably.
Malmi won't allow Abbate to pass to mount.
Abbate uses his free foot to push down on Malmi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Malmi.

Abbate wants to control the pace but Malmi is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malmi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Abbate sprawls well initially but Malmi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Malmi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Abbate makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Abbate forces Malmi back against the cage and clinches.

Abbate shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Malmi has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Malmi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Abbate is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Malmi tries to advance to mount but can't.
Abbate pushes Malmi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Malmi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Abbate moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Abbate had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Malmi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Abbate Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Malmi's back instead.
Malmi turns into Abbate and is now in his guard.

Abbate tries to roll over but Malmi keeps him under control.

Toni Malmi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Malmi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Abbate is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Malmi has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Abbate is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Malmi frees his head nicely. Oh but Abbate has switched to an armbar! Malmi is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
