Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryu Hyabusa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Orlando Sackett! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab-cross combination lands for Hyabusa and sends Sackett crashing to the mat! Hyabusa follows him down to the mat - Sackett regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Sackett is rocked!
It looks like Orlando Sackett has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hyabusa wants to get back to his feet.
Sackett is still in real trouble! Can Hyabusa finish him? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sackett seems to have recovered his senses. Hyabusa decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Sackett throws the kick towards the body but Hyabusa avoids it. Sackett has managed to clinch.
Sackett lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Hyabusa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Oooh a lovely combination from Hyabusa sends Sackett down but not out. Hyabusa dives into side control looking to finish. You can see the frustration on Sackett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hyabusa decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sackett to his feet. Hyabusa throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Sackett tumbling to the canvas! Sackett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hyabusa is looking to stand up but Sackett won't let him. Sackett is pulling down on Hyabusa's head to control his posture. Sackett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hyabusa gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Sackett avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ryu Hyabusa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hyabusa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sackett circles away quickly and effectively. Hyabusa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sackett sees it coming and avoids it easily. Sackett throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Sackett is looking to score with low kicks. Sackett is looking to clinch but Hyabusa is avoiding it.
Sackett scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Sackett looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sackett tries to clinch there but Hyabusa circles away.
Hyabusa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sackett sees it coming and avoids it easily. Sackett fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hyabusa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hyabusa wants it to stay on the feet. Hyabusa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hyabusa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sackett. Hyabusa misses with a looping left. Hyabusa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sackett. Sackett moves out of range as Hyabusa strikes. Hyabusa keeps the fight on the outside. Sackett walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hyabusa checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Sackett swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hyabusa. Hyabusa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sackett. Hyabusa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sackett circles away quickly and effectively. Sackett tries a low kick but Hyabusa avoids it. Sackett throws a leg kick but Hyabusa sees it coming and checks it nicely. Hyabusa misses with a straight left. Hyabusa leaves Sackett with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ryu Hyabusa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orlando Sackett. Hyabusa darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Ryu Hyabusa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hyabusa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sackett manages to avoid it. Hyabusa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sackett moves into the clinch. Hyabusa blocks an elbow strike from Sackett.

Hyabusa wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Sackett is trying to drag Hyabusa to the mat but Hyabusa just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Sackett lands an elbow inside. Hyabusa is trying to break the clinch but Sackett has him pressed against the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Hyabusa takes an elbow to the temple. Sackett has Hyabusa pressed against the cage, preventing Hyabusa from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Sackett is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hyabusa is defending well for now. Still in the clinch, Sackett scores with a nice short uppercut. Sackett keeps control of Hyabusa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Hyabusa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hyabusa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sackett moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A nice leg kick lands there from Sackett. Sackett closes the distance and clinches up with Hyabusa, looking for a takedown. Sackett pushes Hyabusa against the cage but Hyabusa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sackett shoots in for a takedown but Hyabusa shows good takedown defense. Hyabusa throws a looping overhand right but Sackett ducks down to avoid it. Hyabusa missing with a left hand there. Sackett was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hyabusa throws an overhand right that lands on Sackett's shoulder, as Sackett tries to avoid the shot. Sackett has closed the distance and engaged Hyabusa in a clinch.

Hyabusa is trying to break free. Sackett keeps control of Hyabusa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Sackett lands a damaging elbow. Hyabusa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sackett takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Sackett looks gassed! Sackett closes the distance and clinches up with Hyabusa, looking for a takedown. Sackett pushes Hyabusa against the cage but Hyabusa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sackett dodges the punch combination from Hyabusa.
Hyabusa throws a looping overhand right but Sackett ducks down to avoid it. Hyabusa displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hyabusa misses with a straight right. Hyabusa connects with a single shot there. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hyabusa lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Sackett falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
