PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Hogun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Vodkastov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vodkastov has chosen John Lennon - Imagine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Vladimir Vodkastov will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Terry Hogun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Vodkastov!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogun shoots in but no luck this time.

Vodkastov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vodkastov lands in his opponent's guard.
Vodkastov advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vodkastov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hogun won't allow Vodkastov to pass to mount.
Vodkastov missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Hogun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vodkastov is working away from the top position though.

Vodkastov wants to take a breather but Hogun is having none of it.
Hogun could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Vodkastov wants to work for an arm triangle but Hogun is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hogun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vodkastov is working away from the top position though.
Vodkastov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Vodkastov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Vodkastov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vodkastov showed some decent athleticism there.

Vodkastov throws a low kick but Hogun avoids it.
Vodkastov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hogun tries to avoid it but Vodkastov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hogun to the ground. Hogun escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hogun is in close to Vodkastov's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Hogun looking to sit in guard and control but Vodkastov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hogun moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Vodkastov scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Hogun doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Vodkastov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hogun!


Hogun is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vodkastov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hogun to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hogun shrugs it off.

Vodkastov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hogun manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hogun is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Vodkastov off and has taken his back!

Vodkastov is covering up but some of the strikes from Hogun are getting through and doing damage.

Hogun is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Vodkastov. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Vodkastov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hogun swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hogun gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Vodkastov.

Vodkastov tries for a takedown but Hogun sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Vodkastov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hogun is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vodkastov's half guard.

Hogun goes for a takedown in the clinch but Vodkastov prevents it.

Hogun turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hogun manages to end up in side control.

The referee warns Hogun that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vodkastov breaks from Hogun's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Vodkastov is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Vodkastov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hogun is now in Vodkastov's guard. A big mistake from Vodkastov there, giving up the dominant position!

Vladimir Vodkastov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hogun dives in and grabs Vodkastov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vodkastov pushes down on Hogun's head and hops out.
Vodkastov lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Hogun falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
