PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joel de la Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Lin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joel de la Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Lin!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

de la Cruz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - de la Cruz lands in his opponent's guard.
Lin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
de la Cruz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
de la Cruz looking to pass the guard.

de la Cruz has gone for a leg lock! Lin slips out almost immediately though and dives into de la Cruz's guard.

de la Cruz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lin defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
de la Cruz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lin!

de la Cruz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

de la Cruz wants to finish this one by submission but Lin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from de la Cruz.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
de la Cruz fails to advance to Lin's back.

Lin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from de la Cruz.

Lin tries to improve his position but de la Cruz has taken his back! de la Cruz has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Lin tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! de la Cruz pushes Lin away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
