Knox comes into the arena with Paint It Black By The Rolling Stones blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Grimaldi!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox throws a jab when Grimaldi was well out of range.
Knox steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Grimaldi.
Knox displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grimaldi.
Knox is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like Mike Grimaldi has been cut.
Knox tries for a takedown but Grimaldi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Knox looks to land a combination but Grimaldi avoids it well.
Knox misses with a straight right.
Grimaldi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Grimaldi drops Knox with a beautiful combination! Knox stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Grimaldi is looking for the KO!

It looks like Tommy Knox has been cut.
Grimaldi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Oh Knox is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Knox avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Grimaldi throws a jab but it's blocked by Knox.
Knox seems to have got his legs back now.
Grimaldi looks to throw the jab but Knox is out of range.
Knox lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Grimaldi at a distance.

Grimaldi misses with a double jab
and Knox counters with a left and a right that stings Grimaldi.
Grimaldi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Grimaldi misses with an uppercut. Knox saw that one coming.
Knox on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Grimaldi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Knox circles away quickly and effectively.

Grimaldi cracks Knox with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Knox lands a two punch combo.
Grimaldi throws a right hand that Knox ducks under and follows up with a left that Knox also avoids with ease.
Grimaldi moves away from the strike by Knox.
Good shot there by Grimaldi.
Knox slips under a jab from Grimaldi.
Grimaldi throws a hook to the side of Knox's head but Knox sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Grimaldi slips a straight right by Knox.
Knox displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grimaldi.
Knox throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Grimaldi throws a hook to the side of Knox's head but Knox sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Grimaldi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Knox counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Knox shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Grimaldi napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Knox throws an elbow but Grimaldi slips to the side and avoids it well.
Knox trying to control the position but Grimaldi is working away.
Knox laying and praying for a moment but Grimaldi takes advantage and regains half guard.
Grimaldi looks gassed!
Grimaldi looks like he's trying to stand up.
Knox not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Knox seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Grimaldi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Knox throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Knox looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Knox lands a two punch combo.
Knox wants to slow Grimaldi down by chopping away at his legs.
Knox connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Grimaldi missing with a left hand there. Knox was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Knox fails with the takedown.
Grimaldi might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Grimaldi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Mike Grimaldi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Knox shoots for a double leg takedown but Grimaldi sprawls well. He's pushed Knox's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Knox. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grimaldi has his takedown stuffed
and Knox counters with a lovely straight right hand!


That has opened up Mike Grimaldi's cut even more.

Knox shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Grimaldi as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Knox shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grimaldi sprawls well. Grimaldi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Knox gets slowly back to his feet.
Grimaldi throws a combination that misses
and Knox counters with a lovely straight right hand!


The cut above Mike Grimaldi's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The fighters circling - Knox throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Grimaldi ducks under a wild hook from Knox.
Grimaldi misses with a combination
and Knox counters with a three punch combo that has Grimaldi backing up. Grimaldi nods at Knox to acknowledge the strikes.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mike Grimaldi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Tommy Knox!
