PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard So (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Tseng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Tseng's choice of entrance music: Hollywood Undead - Undead. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lee Tseng!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
So cracks Tseng with a good jab.
Tseng ducks under a wild hook from So.
Decent striking displayed by So there.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Tseng has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tseng fails with a takedown attempt.

Tseng uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from So.
Tseng slips under a jab from So.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
No luck for Tseng with that takedown attempt.
Richard So has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee Tseng.
A big left from So misses.
Tseng defending well as So loads up on a big left hand.

Tseng shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says So as he avoids it easily.
Tseng uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from So.
So leaves Tseng with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tseng shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tseng seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but So does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Tseng is working for a kimura but So is defending it quite comfortably.

That was a close round but I would say that Richard So will probably get the nod.

Tseng looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? So is fending him off so far but Tseng persists. Nope, So circles away and we're back to standing.
Tseng misses with a takedown attempt - So sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Richard So has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee Tseng.
A big right from So misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
So throws an overhand right that lands on Tseng's shoulder, as Tseng tries to avoid the shot.
Tseng uses good head movement to avoid the hook from So.
So missing with a left hand there. Tseng was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

So misses with a looping right.

Tseng scores a takedown into full mount!

Tseng jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… So is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by So and Tseng has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Tseng wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by So, who protects the arm well.

Tseng thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lee Tseng showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tseng shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as So sprawls well. So wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tseng gets slowly back to his feet.

Lee Tseng seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
So throws a big shot that misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tseng shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as So sprawls well. So wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tseng gets slowly back to his feet.
So misses with a hook. Tseng ducked under it nicely.

So tests Tseng's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Horrible takedown by Tseng or perhaps it was just good defense by So which made him look bad.
Richard So has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee Tseng.

Tseng scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tseng is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and So defends it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lee Tseng comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tseng has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
