Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sikh Ravana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Sheznik!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ravana shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Sheznik tries to hold on but Ravana postures up.
Ravana lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ravana throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Sheznik is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Poor strikes thrown by Ravana there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Ravana manages to capitalize on a mistake by Sheznik to take his back!
Sheznik covering up well under a barage of strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sheznik is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ravana gets his way!
Sheznik tries to roll but Ravana sticks to his back.
Ravana has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ravana looking to break Sheznik's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sheznik remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ravana will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Sheznik rolls, trying to escape but Ravana keeps control of the position.

Sheznik looking very determined here, making life difficult for Ravana.

Ravana is looking for a choke. Sheznik gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Sheznik manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Sheznik advances position into side control!
Ravana on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Sheznik decides to stand back up.
No luck for Sheznik with that takedown attempt.
Ravana throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ravana circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ravana wants to clinch up but Sheznik keeps it at a distance.
Sheznik avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ravana doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sheznik counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sheznik must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ravana is breathing heavily.
Sheznik tries to free his leg and advance position but Ravana is retaining full guard.
Sheznik would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ravana is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sheznik works over Ravana with some ground and pound from guard.
Sheznik is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sheznik scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ravana looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sheznik puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Ravana is pressing down on Sheznik's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Ravana is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Sheznik gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Sheznik counters with a single leg into guard. Ravana didn't expect that.

Ravana has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sheznik can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ravana bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sheznik's guard.
Ravana postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ravana stands up over Sheznik, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.


Sheznik is rocked!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sheznik can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sheznik is still in real trouble! Can Ravana finish him?

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ravana drops back looking for a leg! Sheznik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sheznik manages to kick Ravana off! Ravana jumps back into Sheznik's guard.
Ravana passes Sheznik's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ravana slows the pace down in half guard.
Ravana lands strikes from half guard.
Ravana drops an elbow to the side of Sheznik's head.
Ravana is taking a breather. Sheznik says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ravana is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Ravana has isolated one of Sheznik's arms. Sheznik looking to fight him off but Ravana twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sikh Ravana!
