Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hinton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mello Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shain comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Stand Alone kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mello Shain is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hinton is defended easily by Shain. Shain throws a right and a left that Hinton avoids nicely. Hinton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hinton lands a nice hook to Shain's body. Shain takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Shain throws a sloppy head kick and Hinton moves out of range easily. Hinton changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Shain tries a low kick but Hinton avoids it. Hinton avoids the body shot from Shain.

Shain connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Mello Shain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hinton drives through with a takedown into guard. Hinton controlling from the top position. Shain keeping full guard, as Hinton tries to pass.

Shain wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hinton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shain defends it well. Shain tries to avoid it but Hinton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shain to the ground. Shain escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Shain throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shain misses with a double jab.
Shain tries to bum rush Hinton with a series of wild strikes but Hinton uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Shain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hinton. Shain cracks a nice hook into Hinton's ribs. Shain misses with a two punch combination.
A jab from Shain misses. Hinton takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hinton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shain's half guard. Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Shain wants to get back to his feet but Hinton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shain looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shain! Hinton gets back to half guard. Hinton is looking for a sweep. Shain is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hinton gets full guard. Hinton pulls Shain in close to prevent any damage. Hinton looking to control.
